The British Guardian newspaper released a story recently stating that in 2006 "according to a study from the UK Film Council, the British film industry contributed £4.3bn to the economy - up 39% on 2004. It also contributed, overall, £1.1bn to the exchequer in tax revenues". It is thought that this trend will continue over the coming years with estimats that by 2010 at least 11% of global film production will occure in the UK. The mojority of filimg for the next Bond movie will also be filmed in the UK.

The great contributing factor to this trend is thought to be the new tax incentives offered by the UK government for making films in the UK.
